Welcome message
Greetings, everyone. Hello, my name is Orie Kudo, and I am the young proprietress-in-training of this inn.
I also manage this web site.
My grandfather was engaged in woodworking in the Karurusu Hot Springs area. He was the one who remodeled the main hall of this building and turned it into an inn. My grandmother was the proprietress in those days.
As a woodworker, he had an eye for the design of the halls here, observing a policy that they should be subdued and naturally convey to the next space, free of distracting embellishments.
The inn opened in 1975.
I was born in 1978, so I have grown up alongside it.

ometimes my parents would be too busy to come out to the foyer, so loyal guests would greet me at the entrance with a fond “welcome home,” knowing me to be a child of the inn. Today, those patrons’ children are guests, making this a multi-generational inn.
Living together under one roof in a traditional inn and serving guests with the traditional Japanese spirit of hospitality has been a mantle we have naturally carried on from my grandparents’ days.
This is a subdued area in a valley, so you may not find all of the conveniences of city life.
However, we endeavor to give our all to provide you with thoroughgoing service with a smile.
We look very much forward to serving you on your next stay.
Our young proprietress: Orie Kudo

Our amazing outdoor baths
This outdoor bath is our pride and joy and is where the name of the inn comes from The proprietor’s policy on outdoor baths is that they aren’t outdoor baths if the sky is obscured. That’s why we don’t install roofs to obstruct the view. On clear days, you can see the blue sky by day and the stars at night. We also offer other authentic hot springs, including one that is safe to drink.

Free range chicken hot pot stew
A longstanding inn favorite featuring Hokkaido chicken One of the signatures of Sanseikan is our free range chicken hot pot stew. Since our founding, the proprietor obtains fresh chicken at the market every day and makes this stew! Many patrons come back just to sample this dish.
